A laconic, self deprecating comedian, Ambrose embarked his comedy career in Memphis, TN. Being originally from Chicago, IL makes no sense at all, but he still found a way to turn his southern humor and unique point of view into a brand. Within only 8 years of stan-up, Jones has been a full-time feature act for 3 years. He has already performed at some of the to comedy venues in the business. Comedy Off Broadway, Richmond Funnybone, West Palm Beack Improv, Stardome, Comedy House, Vb Funnybone, just to name a few.
July 22, 2015 he showcased his talent on NBC for Last Comic Standing. Kennan Ivory Wayans said he is like a breath of fresh air and reminds him of a country Chris Rock, Ellen tweeted (you killed it on LCS). Jones made it pass the invitational round to the Semi- finals.
Ambrose Jones has already established himself as one of the hottest comedians in the south. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Ambrose’s career began in Memphis, TN where he quickly made a name for himself and performed with some of the top comedians in the business. He is a quick witted, clever comedian who captures audience’s attention with his surprising twists on life experiences and rapid punch lines.
As an eager open miker with a night job, he began performing in comedy clubs, bars and even churches throughout Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi and California. In 2009, Ambrose decided to refine his comedy craft and embarked on a journey to a larger city with more opportunities to perform amidst some of the greatest names in the business. During his stint in California, he performed at the world famous Comedy Store, Laugh Factory, and the JSpot.
During this journey he found himself opening for some of the top names in comedy such as: Don (DC) Curry, Damon Wiliiams, George Wilburn, Jay Anthony Brown, Deon Cole, Jay Phillips, Earthquake, Tyler Craig, Small Fire, Lomax, Pierre, (How to be a Player), and Eddie Griffin.
Nov. 20, 2012, he won 1st place at The Stardome in Birmingham, AL Comedy Competition. He performed as a host, but is now a feature act for this club. In 2010, he also became a semifinalist in (Nephew Tommy’s) 50 Comic Deep Competition in Columbia, SC at the Comedy House. He was also the Runner-up Funniest Person In Memphis for 2011. Most recently, he had the opportunity to feature for Dominque (Tom Joyner Morning Show) at the Comedy House in Columbia, South Carolina and a regular feature act The Funnybone in Tunica, MS.
